About the photo: I decided to use this week's theme to try Through the Viewfinder (TTV) photography. In this technique, you take a photograph of the image as it appears in the viewfinder of another camera. In this case, I used my Kodak Duaflex II (which, due to a cleaning accident, has a chip in the viewfinder glass). Initially I wanted to use my Argus 75 which I recently bought for this very purpose. However, I was not able to get black tape with a matte finish in enough time, so I used the old TTV tube I made a while ago fitted for the Kodak. I set up in my girlfriend's kitchen and took photographs of all the little tchotchkes, accessories, fruit, bottles---essentially anything that I saw on the counters. I liked these roosters, hens, and the turkey the best (she has a great collection) but only when placed next to each other. (In truth, I wasn't completely satisfied with the results of any of the images, but for a first attempt I'm trying to convince myself that I'm okay with it). I added a lomography effect as a way to reduce the glare from the tiles. If you're interested in learning more about TTV photography and how to make the related accessories, see Russ Morris's outstanding TTV tutorial.
