Decaying green building with white windows and doors. The paint is chipping. Painted on the building are the words, LJ Herman's 2nd Hand Shop Used Things Bought and Sold. There is an outline of a large hand with white nails.

About the photo: If I were to make of a list of my favorite buildings in the world, L.J. Herman's 2nd Hand Shop would be, if not number 1, at least in the top 3. I love everything about it. The lettering in the signs. The hand. The knuckles in the hand. The patch-up jobs and chipping paint. The cracks in the walls and rust in the hinges. I grew up passing by this building with my father on our way to a friend's antique shop just down the road. Though I never said so, I always wanted to go in. I suspected that inside would be wonderful, mysterious items long lost to the world. I still do.
