About the photo: I couldn't think of anything appropriate for this week's theme, so I went back into the archives. This image, what I call "Life Goes On," is a testament to power. I took this photograph the day after my mother passed away in 2007. I went to a nature reserve in city and I walked. I needed to be outside, away from distractions and noise. Nature soothed me. I walked upon this setting. Nature had taken its toll on this place. The lake, the felled trees, the muck, the dirt. And the bird. I didn't originally see the bird. I saw the dark and the dirty. But the bird stands in stark contrast to all that is around it. I understood this scene to mean that in the midst of tragedy or sadness, nature resumes. Life goes on. I recognized the power of life on this day.
